02 Oct YCOM engages with the next generation of engineers at Formula SAE Italy 2026

From September 2 to 6 2026, YCOM took part in the 21st edition of Formula SAE Italy, held at the Riccardo Paletti Circuit in Varano de’ Melegari (Parma), one of the most important student engineering competitions in the world.

Organized by ANFIA, the event brought together around 1,600 engineering students from 13 countries, representing 53 university teams. The competition once again provided a unique opportunity for young engineers to demonstrate their technical skills while engaging with companies operating at the forefront of engineering and advanced manufacturing.

We were present throughout the competition with our dedicated exhibition stand and with the participation of our Project Director, Marco Merlin, among the event’s judges.

Alongside presentations, we invited students to take part in some interactive activities that allowed them to test their technical knowledge. One of these involved estimating the weight of a carbon-fibre component displayed at the stand.
 
The challenge sparked lively discussions among students, eager to apply their knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing techniques. Technical quizzes and informal conversations also gave students a chance to discuss engineering principles and share different perspectives on problem-solving.

The initiative brought us into contact with students and university teams from across Europe and beyond, including the UNIPR Racing Team, the University of Parma’s Formula SAE team sponsored by YCOM. Meeting engineering students from different countries offered a valuable opportunity to discuss our approach on everyday challengese.
 
We would like to thank all the students, teams, organizers, and visitors who contributed to making Formula SAE Italy 2026 such a valuable and inspiring experience. We look forward to further supporting young engineering talents and strengthening our connection with the international Formula Student community.
